This quintet from the Olympia peninsula of Washington plays an energetic brand of bluegrass music, with the banjo pickin' robust and the harmonies well-blended. Guitarist Jes Raymond is the main vocalist, ably assisted by banjo player Kendl Winter. The two guys in the group, Jakob Breitbach and Joe Capoccia, support with fiddle and the upright bass. On a few of the tracks the guys take the lead vocal (best one is "Virginia"), but it is the harmonies of the ladies that most consistently hit the mark, such as in the opener "Salt Creek," the fast-paced "Take It," a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "I'm On Fire" and the gospel-feeling "Rust." 12/10 MJVD F-BluegrassEdward Herda
